Last night Elizabeth, Katie, Heather and I got in a car after work and we drove out west. We almost reached the burbs, dudes. No, we weren't going to Ikea. We weren't going to O'Hare Airport or to Mitsuwa for mochis. We drove almost to the burbs to attend Brinky's baby shower cause her little baby girl is just about done.
It was my first baby shower, and it was a double. Brinky and her other Australian friend Danielle are both having girls and they're due on the same day. There were also five or six other pregnant people there. And guacamole. Damn, that guacamole was tasty.
The Brinks got lots of great gifts, but the best one was ours. Right, Brinkses? It was pretty big so we had to ship it directly to her apartment but we printed out a picture to include with her card so everyone could see how awesome we are. And we are, it's true.
A funny story about how I accidentally met Brinky's baby-soulmate, Danielle. I went on a work trip in May last year to upstate New York. On my way back to Chicago, I slept through the entire flight, as is my style, and the flight attendant did something so nice. She came up to me before we landed to ask if I wanted a beverage. She said it in a pretty obvious Aussie accent. Later at the office, Brinky and I figured out my flight attendant was her friend, Danielle! Awww. And Weirddd.
